Hilton Checks Out Self-Service Kiosks
New York and Chicago, two of Hilton’s largest hotels, will play host to a three- to six-month pilot program testing the viability of self-service check-in/out kiosks.
AIMING TO EXPEDITE THE CHECK-IN/CHECK-OUT PROCESS, HILTON PLANS TO INSTALL AND TEST SELF-SERVICE KIOSKS AT TWO FO ITS LARGEST PROPERTIES. Hilton is working with IBM to develop the kiosk hardware and software for pilot testing at the 2,035-room Hilton New York and 1,544-room Hilton Chicago. The three- to six- month test, expected to begin later this year, is the first stage in the potential introduction of self-service kiosks throughout the Hilton family of hotels. During the test period, guests at the Hilton Chicago and Hilton New York can check-in at kiosks located in the hotel lobby. After inserting a credit card for identification purposes, guests follow on-screen instructions through the check-in process. At the end of their stay, guests follow the same system through the check-out process.
