Business Traveler and The Business Traveler Center Privacy Policy

1. The information we collect

When you use our site, we receive and collect certain information. That information depends on what you do when you visit The Business Traveler Center (www.businesstravelerusa.com).

Automatically Collected Information. Some information is automatically received and sometimes collected from you when you visit the Business Traveler Center. We receive and collect the name of the domain and host from which you access the Internet; the Internet protocol (IP) address of the computer you are using; the browser software you use and your operating system; the date and time you access our site; and the Internet address of the Web site from which you linked directly to our site. We use this information to monitor site usage. All of the information we automatically capture is collected to help us to provide our users with a better online experience and to determine aggregate information about our user base and usage patterns.

Information Collected via Cookies. "Cookies" are small files or records that are placed on your computer's hard drive to either collect information or place information that allows us to recognize you or record an activity that you have performed once that should not be repeated, such as fill in a survey question.

Most people do not know that cookies are being placed on their computers when they visit the Business Traveler Center or most Web sites because browsers are usually set to accept cookies. You can choose to have your browser warn you every time a cookie is being sent to you or you can turn off cookie placements. If you refuse cookies, you can still use most of the features of the Business Traveler Center, but you will not be able to participate in some surveys and polls. Also, by not using cookies, your overall Internet browsing experience will be affected.

Information You Actively Submit to the Business Traveler Center. For most of the browsing services we provide, we neither require nor collect "Personal Customer Information" -- your name, e-mail address, home or office address or phone. You can enjoy most of the features of the Business Traveler Center without submitting any personal customer information.

In the following instances, however, we do need you to actively submit Personal Customer Information: when you want to (i) complete an order, (ii) subscribe to our electronic newsletter, (iii) submit customer reviews or (iv) participate in contests or surveys such as the Question of the Week

Newsletter Subscription. You may sign up for free Business Traveler-e, our weekly e-mail newsletter. To do so, you need only click on the subscription link and enter your e-mail address. We don't require further information from you other than the determination as to whether or not you can and wish to receive the newsletter in a graphic-rich HTML format.

Once you are subscribed, you can change your preferred format from plain text to HTML or vice versa by simply returning to the same page and re-entering your e-mail address. As an existing subscriber you will be informed that you are already subscribed and given the option to change formats or cancel your subscription.

Subscriber Reports and Letters to the Editor. When you submit a customer review, we ask you to disclose your name and e-mail address in addition to your report or letter. Whether we post your letter or report on the site, include it in Business Traveler-e or publish it in the magazine, we will not include your e-mail address or personal information. We only use the information you provide to us to aid in possibly contacting you should the need arise. We do not use such information for marketing purposes. Your privacy is important to us.

2. How we use and share Personal Customer Information

Business Traveler does not sell or share its e-mail lists with any vendors, period.

The Business Traveler Center does share Personal Customer Information that we collect as follows:

Subcontractors. We send Personal Customer Information to third-party subcontractors and agents that work on our behalf to provide services pertinent to the management and fulfillment of our subscription lists and mailings. These third parties do not have the right to use the Personal Customer Information beyond what is necessary to assist us. They are contractually obligated to maintain the confidentiality and security of the Personal Customer Information and are restricted from using such information in any way not expressly authorized by Business Traveler.

Credit card companies. Credit card transactions are handled by a third-party financial institution, which receives the credit card number and other personal identifying information only to verify the credit card numbers and process transactions.

Law Enforcement Investigations. Business Traveler may release Personal Customer Information when we believe, in good faith, that such release is reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce or apply the terms of any of our user agreements, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Business Traveler, our users, or others.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

3. Communications from the Business Traveler Center

As a subscriber, you may receive the following communications from the Business Traveler Center:

E-mails related to transaction maintenance activities. These emails include subscription or order confirmations, updates and order problem notifications.

Business Traveler-e. You may sign up for our free weekly e-mail newsletter filled with airline and hotel news and deals as well as subscriber reports and letters and insightful reviews of cities and services around the globe.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

4. Underage Customers

The Business Traveler Center is designed for adult frequent travelers. The site has been designed to load quickly with a minimum of art and animation to facilitate quick downloads and maximize information presentable on an average monitor. There are no protections to prevent children under the age of 13 from accessing and using features of the site. However, protecting their privacy as well as yours is one of the reasons we never post e-mail addresses or personal contact information with submissions.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

5. Linking to third-party web sites

When you click on links and banners on our site that take you to third-party Web sites, you will be subject to the third parties' privacy policies. While we support the protection of privacy on the Internet, Business Traveler cannot be responsible for the actions of any third-party Web sites. We encourage you to read the posted privacy statement of any and every site you visit, whether you are linking from our site or browsing on your own.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

6. Changes to Privacy Policy

This privacy policy was last changed on June 1, 2002. Business Traveler reserves the right to modify or amend this policy at any time by posting the revised privacy policy on our site. The changes will only affect the information we collect after the effective date of the change to our privacy policy unless we clearly express otherwise.
